Some of you might know of an annual event which takes place on the River Ouse in the centre of York on a hopeful sunny Summer’s day in July known as The York Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge. What you might not know is that this boat race, made up this year of 36 teams, has raised in excess of £1,380,000 over the past 20 years for local charities!!
So, we are incredibly pleased and honoured to announce that BFF has been chosen as one of the two York Rotary Nominated Charities that will benefit from the Dragon Boat event in July 2023. Our CEO Michelle Foulks attended the Awards Evening held at The Mansion House in York on the 2nd of November where the announcement was made, which was also attended by Lord Mayor Cllr David Carr.
As you know, this nomination will help BFF continue with its work of engaging children in their school setting who might not otherwise have an opportunity to reach their potential, achieve and choose what they want to do in their work lives. We cannot thank York Rotary enough for their support and acknowledgement that what BFF does means so much, not only to the children we work with but their entire families.
