It’s with great pride and a lot of excitement we’re sending you the first newsletter from Big Futures Foundation. It’s our birthday and a great excuse for a big celebration…………
The past nine months have been an amazing combination of a rollercoaster ride and a runaway train. From very early but ambitious ideas and a one-man band we’ve now moved to a trustee board of 8, registration with the Charity Commission as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), support and involvement from academics, schools, counselling professionals and local government.
Our first intake of Big Futures Foundation children and families will start in January 2018. We will be running a two-year pilot programme with two primary schools in deprived areas of York and be working with around 40 families over the period.
Our aim is to provide disadvantaged children with the emotional wellbeing support and life skills development needed for success in their education, work and personal lives from age 5 right through to when they go to work.
‘Every child deserves the opportunity to have a big future and build a great life. We want Big Futures Foundation children to be the best they can be. To have the support they need to make the most of their school career and to grow into adults who are happy in their personal and working lives and proud to be themselves.’
Our website is now up and running and we’re preparing to start our fundraising drive ready for our start date in early January 2018. It’s all go!
It will cost Big Futures Foundation approximately £9,500 per year per school to provide the emotional wellbeing help our children need to come to school feeling relaxed, engaged and ready to learn. If you’d like to support us there are a number of ways we’re raising money.

Finally, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all of you who have helped, supported, offered advice and listened to our endless chatter. I’m proud to be able to send you the news of our Birthday and I’m profoundly aware that we couldn’t have done it without all of you. The journey for Big Futures Foundation continues, a long journey will start for our first families in January. Thanks for joining us along the way. Let’s see where it takes us all!
